The dominant force in high-temperature alloys - nickel based alloys
Nickel based alloys are currently the most widely used high-temperature
alloys and have the highest high-temperature strength. In the field of
high-temperature alloys, nickel based alloys have a very important and special
position. Compared to iron-based alloys and cobalt based alloys, nickel based
alloys have stronger high-temperature resistance, and are also more powerful in
terms of oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance than iron-based alloys
and cobalt based alloys.
The reason why nickel based alloys can become the most widely used and
powerful alloys in the field of high-temperature alloys is mainly due to the
following three reasons:
1. Nickel based alloys have the ability to maintain strong structural
stability and dissolve a large number of alloying elements.
2. Nickel based alloys can form a coherent ordered A3B type intermetallic
compound [Ni3 (Al, Ti)] phase as a strengthening phase, effectively
strengthening the alloy and achieving higher high-temperature strength than
iron-based high-temperature alloys and cobalt based high-temperature alloys.
3. Nickel based alloys contain chromium elements, which gives them stronger
oxidation and corrosion resistance compared to iron-based alloys, and superior
performance in resisting gas corrosion.
